Introduce the concept of goal setting; provide self-monitoring techniques; define roadblocks and provide strategies for overcoming; identify physical and social features of the environment that influence protective behaviors (link to full-text).

Acquire and practice the skills needed to set solid sun protection goals; empower students to identify and find solutions to roadblocks to sun safety in their own lives.

Objective(s):

Set realistic and measurable goals; identify barriers and facilitators of these goals; recognize steps involved in realistic goal setting; identify roadblocks and barriers to sun safety in typical situations; list and analyze strategies for achieving sun safety goals in different situations; promote sun safe school environment.

Time:

90 minutes (over 2 class periods)
